This programme is designed for managers and team leaders in any type or size of organisation; it enables managers and team leaders to work differently with people. It will equip them with enhanced management skills to maximise individual and team performance and enable them to contribute positively to organisational change initiatives. 

What does this mean in practice?

Consider appraisal interviews ......

Most people leave appraisal interviews more demotivated than when they went in. This is fairly typical across all kinds of organisations - it's a tick-box exercise. Coaching is about helping managers work through the purpose of the appraisal:-

     Λ what do I want to get out of it?
     Λ what does the individual want to get out of it?
     Λ how am I going to do that?
     Λ and achieve the best for all concerned 

Avoiding difficult conversations ......

It is common in many organisations for managers to avoid having the conversations they need to have. People might not be quite doing what the organisation needs them to do. But nobody is really telling them - not having the kind of conversation they need to have:-

     Λ clear, honest feedback
     Λ specific
     Λ goal related

If managers don't have those conversations, people think they're doing a good job - they carry on as they always have done - they've no reason to change.

Even when a manager thinks they've told someone; has the message got through? - often it hasn't!
